LinkedIn company page banner: the 4200×700 cover image

A company page cover image is not a bigger version of your personal banner. It is a separate asset with its own dimensions, its own file size ceiling, and a square logo tile sitting on top of it instead of a round profile photo. Designers who reuse a 1584×396 profile banner here end up with a stretched, logo-covered mess.

File requirements: PNG or JPEG, 3MB maximum.

LinkedIn Help lists 4200 × 700px as both the minimum and the recommended cover image size for a Page, a 6:1 frame. The 1128 × 191 figure that circulates in most banner-size roundups is the older, smaller display box, not the current upload target.

How LinkedIn company page crops your header

LinkedIn company page renders the same image differently across devices. We test 2 unique device profiles (1 phone) (1 desktop).

Page cover image versus profile background photo

These are two different specs and mixing them up is the most common company page mistake.

What the logo tile covers

Where a personal profile drops a circle on the banner, a Page drops a rounded square logo tile anchored to the lower-left of the cover, and the Page name and tagline render immediately beside or below it. On a 6:1 canvas that overlay is proportionally shorter than the avatar on a personal banner but reaches just as far in from the left edge.

Keep the left sixth of the cover free of anything load-bearing, and expect the very bottom edge to be visually crowded by the Page name on desktop.

The 6:1 frame is the real constraint

At 4200 × 700 you have a strip six times wider than it is tall. Full-bleed photography rarely survives it: faces, products and horizons all get sliced. Covers that work on Pages are typically a flat or gradient field with a single short line of type, sized generously, sitting right of centre.

Because the rendered cover is far smaller than the 4200px you upload, treat every dimension in your design as a ratio rather than a pixel count, and check legibility at phone scale rather than at 100% zoom.

LinkedIn company page header FAQ

What size is a LinkedIn company page banner?
LinkedIn Help lists the Page cover image at 4200 × 700 pixels as both the minimum and the recommended size, a 6:1 frame. It is not the same as the 1584 × 396 personal profile background photo.
What file format and size limit apply to a LinkedIn Page cover image?
All LinkedIn Page images must be PNG or JPEG files with a maximum size of 3MB. That is a tighter ceiling than the 8MB allowed for a personal profile background photo.
Why do so many guides say 1128 × 191?
1128 × 191 is the older, smaller cover box and is still repeated across most banner-size roundups. LinkedIn's current Page image specifications publish 4200 × 700, and uploading at that size gives the platform the resolution it needs on high-density screens.
What size should a LinkedIn Page logo be?
LinkedIn recommends 400 × 400 pixels for a Page logo, with a 268 × 268 minimum. The logo renders as a tile over the lower-left of the cover image, so design the two together.
Can I reuse my personal LinkedIn banner on a company page?
Not without redesigning it. A personal banner is 4:1 and a Page cover is 6:1, so a straight reuse either letterboxes or crops away the top and bottom of your artwork, and the square logo tile covers a different region than the round profile photo does.

Dimensions and file limits on this page were read from LinkedIn Help: Image specifications for your LinkedIn Pages and LinkedIn Help: Add or change the background photo on your profile on 2026-08-11.
